How to Understand the Word of God By the Spirit
Let’s talk about things that are important concerning the Word of God, that which He is speaking to His people, and is mostly done by the Spirit, through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus said that He has the hairs on your head numbered. This emphasizes how intimate God is with His creation, and how much He cares for us, even in our minor physical details. God is also just as much interested in our spiritual condition as well. When God speaks, He is a Spirit and if you want to have a relationship with Him, your spirit must be revived (“…deep calls unto deep”). When Jesus spoke, He spoke in a spiritual manner that often left people confused about what He actually meant. Jesus wasn’t crucified for what He said, He was died for what people thought He said. Let’s go deeper into the Word of God and how it should affect us. I pray over you that you have hot, fertile soil in your heart, that it’s ground for the rooting of God’s Word in your spirit man, that when you hear the Word, it will penetrate, especially when you hear the Word of the Gospel, the Word of the Kingdom – that you will hear and understand.
Matthew 13:3-14;18-23 (NKJV) Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
The Purpose of Parables
10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12 For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says:
‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,
And seeing you will see and not perceive;
The Parable of the Sower Explained
18 “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. 20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
We can’t just have a physical ear and expect to hear what God is saying. When Jesus spoke in parables, He said that it has been given to us to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. It’s His Kingdom that He wants to get down in your heart, and it’s the only Word that the enemy of your soul is concerned about, who is waiting to snatch away the seed of the word of the Kingdom. God wants you to understand His Word today. He wants you to have the spiritual eyes and ears to understand His Word. Understanding His Word is not something you can fake. When the seeds of the Word are sown into our hearts, their is a potential for good fruit to be born. God absolutely desires that we bear good fruit. If you open up your heart and receive His Word, and let Holy Spirit activate that Word of God in you, the fruit of the Spirit will be developed in you and it will touch people around you. Here’s the bottom line: If you receive His Word, you will bear fruit. You become a living tree of life. Paradise then surrounds you wherever you go because the Lord of Paradise is within you. The world is looking for life, is looking for Jesus, is looking for answers. The world needs to understand Jesus, and His Word.
John 3:3-7;11-13;16-17;34-36 (NKJV) Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’….. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven…….16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved…. 34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure. 35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
Here Jesus speaks very simple spiritual words, but spiritual words nonetheless. Nicodemus could only interpret the words of Jesus through his natural mind. This is a great example of how the words of Jesus need to be received and perceived with spiritual understanding. God does not give the Spirit by measure. It’s measureless. Ask for a limitless dose of Jesus. It’s legal. Do not get caught up in men’s doctrine. The more you hang out with Jesus, the more you can differentiate between what has originate from God (Truth), and what is man-made. Jesus sent His only Son so that we can have eternal life.
